Von Miller to Wear No. 40 with the Cowboys
Von Miller will wear the No. 40 jersey after officially joining the Dallas Cowboys. The team announced its roster on Thursday, revealing that fullback Hunter Luepke has changed his number to No. 30.
Miller expressed a desire to wear No. 40, a number he previously wore at Texas A&M and with the Rams and Bills. Negotiations were necessary to secure the number from Luepke, who had worn it since joining the Cowboys in 2023. Both players had worn No. 40 during practice.
While the specifics of the agreement between Miller and Luepke remain unclear, it was mentioned that Miller had offered a lifetime supply of chicken as part of the negotiations. Rookie safety Caleb Downs will continue to wear No. 13, which was assigned to him upon his arrival.
