Von Miller Trades Chicken Stake for Jersey Number
In a unique negotiation, Cowboys linebacker Von Miller traded a portion of his chicken company for the No. 40 jersey number from teammate Hunter Luepke. Luepke, a fullback, has worn the number since 2023, but with the NFL's rule against duplicate numbers, a decision was needed before the regular season.
Miller, who has previously worn No. 40 in high school, college, and with the Rams and Bills, ultimately conceded in the final moments of the negotiation. Luepke will now wear No. 30. Miller expressed appreciation for Luepke's negotiation skills, noting that he has learned from experienced negotiators within the Cowboys organization.
Both players are involved in the chicken business, with Miller's company, Greener Pastures Chicken, also having notable investors like Patrick Mahomes and Drew Brees. Miller highlighted Luepke as a valuable addition to the business partnership.
