Wales Achieves Cycling Success at Commonwealth Games
Wales celebrated a successful day at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, winning four cycling medals, including three golds by Emma Finucane, who made history as the first Welsh woman to achieve this feat at a single Commonwealth Games.
Finucane, along with teammate Anna Morris, dominated the evening events, with Jess Roberts earning silver in the points race. The Welsh team has now amassed a total of 10 cycling medals, comprising five golds, three silvers, and two bronzes, with a significant contribution from female athletes.
The competition saw the debut of the 1,000m time trial, where Finucane set a strong pace to secure a bronze medal. Despite some setbacks, including illness affecting teammate Ioan Hepburn and a controversial relegation for Morris, the Welsh team remains optimistic as they prepare for the final day of racing.
