Warrington Widow Honors Husband's Organ Donation That Saved Three Lives

Sue Walker from Warrington, Cheshire, has shared her pride following the organ donation of her late husband, John Walker, who passed away at the age of 48 due to a pulmonary embolism. His liver and kidneys were donated, saving the lives of three men aged in their 20s, 30s, and 40s.

John had expressed his desire to be an organ donor, a topic he and Sue discussed frequently during their 18 years together. After his sudden illness during a family holiday in Scotland, he suffered a cardiac arrest and was resuscitated for 40 minutes before being declared brain dead. Sue immediately agreed to the organ donation when approached by specialist nurses.

In light of her husband's legacy, Sue has joined an NHS campaign aiming to register one million new organ donors. NHS Blood and Transplant officials have noted a decline in family support for organ donation and are seeking to reverse this trend.
