Warriors Face Challenges in Trading Kristaps Porzingis
The Golden State Warriors are encountering difficulties in arranging a trade for Kristaps Porzingis, who is facing health challenges related to postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS). This condition has limited his appearances to just 32 games last season with Atlanta and Golden State.
Despite these issues, the Warriors had optimism regarding Porzingis's health when they extended his contract for two years at $40 million over the summer. His current cap hit is $20 million for this season and the next, with only a portion of his future salary guaranteed. The Warriors, constrained by salary cap rules, would need to include additional players in any trade to acquire someone with a higher salary, complicating potential deals.
While the Warriors have explored trade options, including discussions with the Milwaukee Bucks, interest in Porzingis from other teams appears limited. The Memphis Grizzlies are noted as a team to watch for a possible future trade involving Porzingis, as they possess a traded player exception that could facilitate such a move.
