Washington Commanders to Sign Running Back Craig Reynolds
The Washington Commanders are preparing to sign veteran running back Craig Reynolds after hosting several free agents for visits. This decision comes as the team seeks to enhance their backfield depth during the final stages of training camp and the preseason.
Reynolds' signing follows an injury to Jeremy McNichols, who is expected to be sidelined for multiple weeks due to a quad issue. Reynolds, who previously played for the Commanders in 2019, has spent most of his NFL career with the Detroit Lions, where he made 59 appearances from 2020 to 2025.
In recent seasons, Reynolds has primarily contributed on special teams, and he will likely continue in that role with Washington. The team's running back lineup also includes Jacory Croskey-Merritt, Rachaad White, Jerome Ford, and rookie Kaytron Allen. McNichols, who re-signed with the team earlier this year, may face release if his recovery does not progress, which could provide additional cap savings for the Commanders.
