West Bromwich Albion's James Morrison Supports Aune Heggebo After Deception Ban

West Bromwich Albion's head coach, James Morrison, has voiced his support for Aune Heggebo after the forward received a two-match ban for deception. This decision follows an incident during the Championship season opener against Norwich City, where Heggebo scored a goal that involved a handball.

The 25-year-old Norwegian player became the first to be charged with deception of a match official since the rule was established in the 2017-18 season. Morrison stated that the incident was unintentional and criticized the FA for their handling of the situation, suggesting it could lead to inconsistencies in officiating.

Heggebo, who has scored 10 goals in 47 appearances since joining West Brom in July 2025, missed a recent match against Burnley and will also be absent for an upcoming Carabao Cup tie against Newcastle United. Morrison emphasized the need for consistent application of rules by the FA throughout the season.
