Western Bulldogs Delist Riley Garcia but Plan to Reclaim Him in Rookie Draft
The Western Bulldogs have announced the delisting of midfielder Riley Garcia, who is set to be considered for selection in the upcoming rookie draft in November.
Garcia, who was selected with Pick 62 in the 2019 National Draft, has played 39 games for the Bulldogs. He faced challenges in the past two seasons, including a hamstring injury that kept him from participating at the AFL level in 2026, limiting him to just one VFL game this season.
Despite the Bulldogs' commitment to reselect Garcia, other clubs may also express interest in the 25-year-old midfielder. The Bulldogs, who finished seventh this season, will have to navigate a competitive rookie draft process, as several teams have selections before them. Additionally, Garcia could be picked up during the DFA signing period or the national draft. The club has undergone significant changes this off-season, with multiple players, including Oskar Baker and Adam Treloar, also departing.
