White Sox Activate Drew Thorpe and Option Him to Triple-A

The Chicago White Sox have reinstated right-handed pitcher Drew Thorpe from the 60-day injured list and optioned him to Triple-A Charlotte. This announcement coincides with the activation of veteran outfielder Tommy Pham from the 10-day injured list, with catcher Edgar Quero being optioned to Charlotte as part of the roster adjustments.

Drew Thorpe, 25, was a key prospect in the trade that sent Dylan Cease to San Diego in 2024. He had a promising start in the majors with a 3.03 ERA over his first seven starts before facing challenges that led to his placement on the injured list due to a flexor strain. Following surgery to remove a bone spur from his elbow, he was sidelined for the remainder of the season.

After undergoing Tommy John surgery due to a torn ulnar collateral ligament, Thorpe has been rehabbing in the minors throughout 2026, showcasing strong performance with a 2.70 ERA across 36 2/3 innings. Despite limited major league appearances, he has accumulated over two years of service time. While currently optioned, he remains a candidate for a call-up as the season progresses.
