White Sox Plan to Strengthen Starting Pitching for 2027
The Chicago White Sox are focusing on improving their starting pitching for the 2027 season after being eliminated from the postseason by the Guardians. General manager Chris Getz announced the team's intentions during a media session.
Despite a decent season, the White Sox's rotation struggled, recording the fewest innings pitched in the league at 674 2/3 and a 4.60 earned run average, ranking among the bottom five teams. The team utilized a non-traditional pitching strategy during the playoffs, which contributed to their challenges.
Getz noted that several pitchers, including Luis Castillo and Davis Martin, faced injuries that affected their performance. Castillo, who has a career ERA of 3.75, had a disappointing season after being acquired mid-year. The White Sox are considering both free agency and potential trades to bolster their rotation, with several options available in the market.
