Will Howard to Start for Steelers Against Jets, Drew Allar to Follow
Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike McCarthy confirmed that Will Howard will start at quarterback for the team's upcoming game against the New York Jets on Friday night, with rookie Drew Allar set to follow him.
This decision means that neither Aaron Rodgers nor Mason Rudolph, the team's veteran quarterbacks, will participate in the game. McCarthy emphasized the importance of giving Howard and Allar playing time, noting that Howard did not play last season and Allar is in his first year.
In the previous game against the Green Bay Packers, Rudolph played 19 snaps, completing 10 of 11 passes for 93 yards. Howard also played 19 snaps, finishing with 7 of 9 passes for 86 yards, while Allar completed 10 of 13 passes for 153 yards and two touchdowns in 30 snaps.
