Will Ospreay recently shared insights regarding Tony Khan's decision to select Hangman Page over him for the 2025 Owen Hart Foundation Cup win. Last year, Page defeated Ospreay in the tournament's final.

Following his victory, Page went on to defeat Jon Moxley at All In 2025, securing the AEW World title. Ospreay noted that both he and Page were strong contenders for the win, but Khan ultimately favored Page. Ospreay mentioned that he was not yet ready for a world title opportunity at that time, suggesting that the decision allowed him to build towards future chances.

After the tournament, Ospreay teamed with Swerve Strickland against The Young Bucks but later announced a hiatus due to a neck injury. He returned to action at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door. Ospreay later reached the 2026 Owen Hart Cup final, where he defeated Strickland, earning another opportunity for the World title at All In 2026.
