Will Power Crashes During Second Practice at Markham IndyCar Event
Will Power was involved in a crash during the second practice session at the inaugural Ontario Honda Dealers Indy in Markham, becoming the first driver to do so on the new street circuit.
The incident occurred when Power's #26 Andretti Global Honda hit the tire barriers after going off-line in Turn 10, leading to a red flag with just over seven minutes left in the session. He acknowledged his mistake, attributing it to poor grip and dust on the tires from the previous corner.
Despite running the fifth-fastest lap in the morning practice, Power expressed disappointment over losing valuable track time on the new circuit. Team principal Ron Ruzewski noted the importance of the situation, stating that the team would rely on their other drivers for guidance during qualifying while mechanics worked on repairs to the primary chassis.
