Will Snelling Retires from Football to Pursue Medical Career
Will Snelling, a former player for Essendon and Port Adelaide, has decided to retire from football to concentrate on his medical career.
The 29-year-old was drafted by Port Adelaide in 2016 but played only one game in three seasons. He found more success at Essendon, where he participated in 64 games over five seasons and won the Magarey Medal in 2024 as the best and fairest player in the SANFL.
Snelling was delisted after the 2023 season but had the option to trial for a spot in the 2024 Supplemental Selection Period. However, he chose not to pursue this opportunity and returned to South Australia, where he will continue his journey as a doctor while also serving as co-vice captain for Sturt.
