Will Zalatoris to Miss Entire 2027 PGA Tour Season for Back Surgery
Will Zalatoris has prioritized back surgery over the 2027 PGA Tour season, announcing he will miss the entire year in hopes that this third operation will be his last. The 30-year-old golfer revealed his plans during a press conference for the upcoming Austin Championship.
Zalatoris is scheduled for spinal-fusion surgery in November as part of his ongoing battle with chronic back problems. He has previously undergone a microdiscectomy in 2023 and a disc replacement in 2025, and has only participated in four tournaments this year due to a right hip labrum issue.
While he aims to return to competitive play in 2028, Zalatoris is set to compete in the Austin Championship from November 12-15, which would mark his first tournament since April if he is able to participate. He has one PGA Tour victory, the 2022 FedEx St. Jude Championship, and has achieved notable runner-up finishes in major tournaments.
