Williams Aims to Improve After Challenging 2026 Season
Williams Racing has faced a challenging season in Formula 1, currently sitting ninth in the constructors' championship with only 12 points. Team principal James Vowles is optimistic about improvements for the 2027 season, believing that the issues experienced in 2026 will not be repeated.
The team struggled with new technical regulations, starting the season overweight and missing crucial pre-season testing. A new chassis was introduced at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix in late September, which Vowles acknowledges was a significant step forward.
Vowles has taken responsibility for the team's missteps and highlighted changes made to software systems and team operations. The addition of Piers Thynne, who has extensive experience from McLaren, is expected to enhance the team's development capabilities. Vowles noted that while the team has made progress, the true test will come at the start of the next season.
