Williams Boss Warns Madring Circuit Could Damage F1 Cars

James Vowles, the head of Williams Racing, has expressed concerns regarding the new Madring circuit, particularly its banked corner that subjects cars to sustained loads for approximately four and a half seconds. This aspect was highlighted after reviewing data from recent Formula 3 testing.

During the Formula 3 sessions, the track generated notable issues, including 19 red flags, three broken chassis, and six broken suspensions. Vowles remarked on the unexpected level of sustained G-forces experienced during the banking, indicating potential difficulties for both the vehicles and their systems.

Additionally, Carlos Sainz has pointed out that overtaking may prove challenging at the new venue. F1 chief executive Stefano Domenicali acknowledged that the circuit's construction would be finalized just before the inaugural race weekend, noting that while it may not be perfect, there is always potential for enhancements.
