Wisconsin Sweeps Louisville and ASU Upsets Texas in Jeep AVCA First Serve
A new season of women's college volleyball commenced with the Jeep AVCA First Serve double-header on Saturday, featuring matches between Wisconsin and Louisville, as well as Texas and Arizona State.
In the first match, Wisconsin, ranked No. 6, faced No. 7 Louisville and secured a decisive victory in straight sets. The Badgers took control early, with Grace Egan and Audrey Flanagan contributing key plays, including a series of aces and kills that led to a 25-22 win in the first set. Wisconsin maintained dominance throughout the match, with Flanagan leading the team with 13 kills.
In the second match, Arizona State, ranked No. 12, stunned No. 2 Texas by winning the first two sets 25-17. The Sun Devils showcased strong defensive play and offensive contributions from players like Noemiie Glover and Una Vajagic. Although Texas managed to win the third set 25-19, Arizona State regained control in the fourth set, ultimately winning 25-15 and marking their first victory over Texas since 2013.
