Withings Introduces Annual Fee for Apple Health Sync; Omata Bike Computer Returns
Withings has announced a new annual fee of $99 for new users who wish to sync their weight data to Apple Health, effective from October 13, 2026. This fee will be part of the Withings+ subscription, which includes additional features that many users may not require.
The company clarified that existing users will not be affected by this change and can still export their data for free. However, the CSV and PDF formats offered may not be practical for users due to the lack of a standard weight data format. This announcement comes just before the holiday shopping season, which may impact consumer choices regarding connected scales.
In another development, Silca has acquired Omata and resumed sales of its bike computer, which features a minimalist design with analog hands for displaying three key metrics. The updated model includes GPS, Bluetooth, and ANT+ connectivity, and is priced at $800. This limited re-release supports industry-standard FIT files, although it is currently available only for iOS users.
