Wizards' No. 1 Pick AJ Dybantsa Out for Season Opener Against Bucks
Rookie AJ Dybantsa has been ruled out for the Washington Wizards' season opener against the Milwaukee Bucks due to an ankle injury. Head coach Brian Keefe confirmed that Dybantsa is considered day-to-day.
Dybantsa, selected first overall in the 2026 NBA draft from BYU, suffered the injury during the exhibition finale against the New Orleans Pelicans. In the pre-season, he averaged 12.8 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.8 assists over four games.
Despite Dybantsa's absence, the Wizards will feature 10-time All-Star Anthony Davis in his debut, alongside Trae Young and a group of promising young players. The team aims to surpass 20 wins this season and end a five-year playoff drought.
