WNBA Matches Disrupted by Sex Toys Thrown on Court
Two Women's National Basketball Association games faced disruptions due to sex toys being thrown onto the court. The incidents occurred during the third quarter of matches involving the Chicago Sky and Atlanta Dream.
In the Chicago Sky's game against the Golden State Valkyries, a green object landed on the court, leading to a brief halt in play before the Sky secured a 73-70 victory. Similarly, the Atlanta Dream's match against the Los Angeles Sparks was interrupted when an object was thrown as Sparks guard Park Ji-hyun was about to take a free throw, resulting in a 124-88 win for Atlanta.
Last season, similar disruptions occurred in six WNBA games, attributed to a group protesting the league's policies on transgender athletes. A male spectator involved in a recent incident in Los Angeles was identified and faces a lifetime ban from WNBA events. The Chicago incidents remain under investigation, with the league reiterating that any spectator caught throwing objects would face bans and potential legal action.
