Wolff Acknowledges Budget Constraints Impacting Mercedes Development
Toto Wolff has stated that budget cap constraints are hindering Mercedes' development efforts in Formula 1. This admission comes as McLaren celebrates its second consecutive victory, highlighting the competitive landscape of the sport.
Wolff noted that while Ferrari has introduced 40 new components and Red Bull and McLaren have added 38, Mercedes has only managed 24. He explained that the team is trying to balance its spending throughout the season to optimize championship points.
Despite acknowledging financial limitations, Wolff believes that the team's strategy regarding when to deploy upgrades is crucial. Meanwhile, McLaren's Andrea Stella expressed skepticism about Wolff's claims, suggesting that Mercedes may still have significant development potential that could soon be realized.
