Wolff Acknowledges Verstappen's Decision to Stay with Red Bull
Toto Wolff, the Mercedes team principal, commented on Max Verstappen's decision to extend his contract with Red Bull until 2030, describing it as a logical choice. Speaking to Dutch media at Zandvoort, Wolff indicated that he is not dismissing the possibility of pursuing Verstappen again in the future.
Wolff noted that the current situation differs significantly from the previous year when both Mercedes and Verstappen were exploring potential collaboration. He mentioned that early on, Mercedes decided to continue with their current drivers, George and Kimi, marking a shift in their strategy.
Despite Verstappen's commitment to Red Bull, he remains connected to Mercedes through his growing GT program. Wolff expressed satisfaction with their relationship, emphasizing that discussions between them do not revolve around competitive strategies. He also highlighted that as the current regulations evolve, the top teams, including Red Bull, McLaren, and Ferrari, are likely to compete for titles and victories once again.
