World Endurance Championship Returns with Lone Star Le Mans
The World Endurance Championship (WEC) is set to resume this weekend with the Lone Star Le Mans at the Circuit of The Americas, following a nearly two-month summer break. The championship is currently competitive, with Ferrari looking for its first win in the Hypercar class and Cadillac striving for a podium finish on home soil.
At the season's midpoint, Toyota and BMW are tied at the top of the drivers' standings, having won all four races so far. Toyota aims to recover from a non-points finish in Sao Paulo, while BMW seeks to maintain its strong performance after finishing first in its last three events. Ferrari, which dominated the early season last year, is eager to regain its winning form, especially at a track where it has previously excelled.
Cadillac, still in search of its first podium in the Hypercar class, will be bolstered by the addition of Ricky Taylor, who replaces an injured teammate. The race also marks a significant moment for Logan Sargeant, who will compete for Ford's customer team Proton, having previously scored points in Formula 1 at this venue. Additionally, Corvette leads the LMGT3 standings and aims to capitalize on its strong performance this season.
