World Endurance Championship Set for Barcelona 6 Hours
The World Endurance Championship (WEC) is scheduled to take place from October 16-18 at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, marking the inaugural 6 Hours of Barcelona and the penultimate round of the 2026 season.
This event follows the race at Fuji and will see teams competing for world titles, with Toyota and BMW in a tight contest, while Ferrari aims to remain a contender. The Barcelona circuit was selected as a replacement for the Qatar 1812km race, which was canceled due to geopolitical issues in the Middle East.
Despite the circuit's lack of WEC history, many teams are familiar with it from other endurance events. The Hypercar class is expected to be competitive, with Toyota leading the championship, but BMW and Team WRT are determined to challenge them. Cadillac will see Alex Lynn return after an injury, and Alpine hopes to build on its recent performance. The LMGT3 category features strong competitors like Corvette and TF Sport, while the event will have a unique split schedule on Saturday to accommodate the GT World Challenge finale.
