Wrexham Nears Signing of Burnley Defender Joe Worrall

Wrexham is reportedly nearing a deal to acquire Joe Worrall, a 29-year-old defender from Burnley, as they aim to bolster their defensive lineup before the transfer deadline on Tuesday at 23:00 BST.

Worrall has yet to feature in Burnley's Championship matches this season, with his only appearance being in the EFL Cup against Notts County on August 8. Wrexham has struggled defensively, failing to secure a clean sheet in their first four matches and experiencing a winless start to the 2026-27 season.

Worrall, who previously played for Nottingham Forest, has made 27 appearances for Burnley since joining in the summer of 2024. His potential arrival may lead to the departure of Conor Coady, who has not been included in any matchday squads this season. Wrexham has also made several signings this summer, including goalkeeper Anthony Patterson and central midfielder Ben Whiteman, and may look to add another forward before the window closes.
