WTA Chennai Open Scheduled for November 2-8
The WTA 250 Chennai Open is set to occur from November 2 to 8 in Chennai, with initial funding of ₹10 crore provided by the Government of Tamil Nadu.
The Tamil Nadu Tennis Association (TNTA) has expressed confidence in securing additional sponsorship, as many previous corporate supporters have committed to backing the event for its third year. TNTA president Vijay Amritraj highlighted the ongoing support from sponsors and thanked the Chief Minister for his assistance.
This year's tournament will feature electronic line calling technology across all courts, a first for the event. Last year, this technology was only available on the Centre Court. Additionally, discussions are underway to attract top-ranked players to participate.
The Secretary of the Youth Welfare and Sports Development Department, Sandeep Nanduri, confirmed the government's commitment to ensuring the tournament's success and expressed hopes of reinstating a men's ATP 250 event in Tamil Nadu.
