WWE Cancels Brock Lesnar vs. Gunther Match Twice
Brock Lesnar's potential match against Gunther has been canceled twice by WWE, despite ongoing interest in the bout. Following his retirement announcement after WWE SummerSlam, discussions about this highly anticipated matchup have resurfaced.
WWE had considered the clash on multiple occasions, but plans fell through before fans could witness the encounter. Initially, the match was expected to take place after the Royal Rumble, but Lesnar's involvement in a lawsuit in early 2024 led to changes in the WrestleMania lineup, with Gunther instead defending his Intercontinental Championship against Sami Zayn.
Despite Lesnar's recent retirement, wrestling expert Dave Meltzer suggested that a return is not entirely out of the question. He noted that the match with Gunther remains a viable option if WWE decides to pursue it in the future. Lesnar's retirement followed a loss to Oba Femi at SummerSlam, while Gunther recently secured a victory over Nick Aldis.
