WWE Crown Jewel 2026 Decision Relies on Saudi Government
The upcoming WWE Crown Jewel 2026 event is scheduled for November 7 at the Riyadh Seasonal Stadium in Saudi Arabia, but its occurrence is still in question. Despite recent violence in the region, including a bombing at King Khalid International Airport that resulted in multiple casualties, WWE continues to promote the event.
Dave Meltzer has indicated that the Saudi government, particularly through the influence of Turki Al-Sheikh, is pressuring TKO to proceed with the event. While some events have been postponed, WWE wrestlers, classified as independent contractors, are expected to travel to Riyadh despite concerns from non-wrestling staff. Meltzer also noted that WWE has a contingency plan in place, although details remain unconfirmed.
The potential for terrorist attacks poses a significant risk, with entertainment venues and transportation hubs being vulnerable targets. Meltzer highlighted that while WWE's current deal with Saudi Arabia allows for postponements without financial loss, the long-term relationship could be jeopardized, affecting future negotiations.
