WWE Crown Jewel Set for Riyadh Despite Risks
WWE is set to host its Crown Jewel event in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on November 7, despite significant risks associated with the ongoing conflict in the region.
The event is scheduled to occur amid heightened tensions, as recent attacks by the Houthis have targeted airports in Saudi Arabia, leading to casualties. The U.S. government has advised its citizens against traveling to the country and ordered diplomats and their families to leave.
Ari Emmanuel from TKO confirmed on Fox News that preparations for the event are proceeding as planned, stating that nothing has been canceled. WWE will tape an episode of SmackDown prior to Crown Jewel on November 2 at the Barclays Center in New York, with Raw scheduled to follow on November 9 in Columbia, South Carolina. Financial incentives are reportedly motivating TKO to maintain the event's schedule in Riyadh.
