WWE Retires Speed Titles Following NXT Unification Match
The WWE has declared the Speed titles inactive following a segment on Tuesday's NXT, where Zaria opted to retain the Women's North American title, leading to the abandonment of the Speed title.
General Manager Robert Stone announced that the men's Speed Championship would also be rendered defunct due to Zaria's choice. Lexis King, present with the Birthright faction, reluctantly relinquished his title, signaling the conclusion of Speed matches.
The Speed titles were initially associated with a short-form program called Speed, which debuted in April 2024 and featured Ricochet and Candice LeRae as the first champions. The show was discontinued in July of the same year, after which the titles transitioned to NXT, where they were defended more frequently.
