WWE Settlement Dispute Resolved, Finalization Expected Soon
The delay in finalizing a $147.5 million settlement in the WWE shareholder lawsuit seems to have been resolved. The issue involved a disagreement between lawyers for Vince McMahon and those representing Nick Khan, Paul Levesque, and former WWE board members George Barrios and Michelle Wilson.
While McMahon and the other defendants had agreed to the settlement, they were negotiating the legal claims to be waived regarding payment responsibilities and insurance coverage. Reports indicate that the WWE-affiliated defendants and TKO believe they have addressed the outstanding issues and are awaiting final approval from insurance carriers.
The plaintiffs argue that insurer approval should not delay the settlement. WWE's share of the settlement amounts to $105 million, with TKO expecting $75 million to be covered by insurance. The remaining $42.5 million is to be paid by McMahon or his insurers. The final step before executing the settlement papers is the anticipated sign-off from the insurance carriers.
