WWE SmackDown Schedule Nearly Adjusted for WNBA Finals
WWE SmackDown's broadcast schedule was nearly altered to accommodate Game 6 of the WNBA Finals, according to ESPN's Ramona Shelburne. The Atlanta Hawks and State Farm Arena CEO, Steve Koonin, contacted WWE President Nick Khan to propose moving SmackDown one hour later.
Khan indicated that WWE would agree to the change if it helped the WNBA Finals. However, concerns from WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert about a potential Game 7 on Election Night led to the cancellation of the plan. Consequently, SmackDown will air at its usual time, while the WNBA Finals Game 6 is set to take place at 12:30 pm on Thursday.
WWE has a history of collaboration with the NBA, featuring various basketball players in its programming. This year, Danhausen played a role in the New York Knicks' successful season, further highlighting the connection between the two leagues.
