Wyndham Championship Begins as Players Aim for FedEx Cup Playoffs
The Wyndham Championship is set to commence on Thursday in Greensboro, North Carolina, serving as the concluding event of the PGA Tour's regular season. This tournament presents the last opportunity for players to secure one of the 70 spots available for the FedEx Cup playoffs.
Following the Wyndham, the top 70 players in the points standings will qualify for the FedEx St. Jude Championship, with subsequent cuts narrowing the field to 50 for the BMW Championship and 30 for the Tour Championship. Players ranked between Nos. 61 and 125 are competing this week, with Jackson Koivun currently holding the 70th position after a recent victory at the 3M Open.
Notable players outside the playoff cut include Mac Meissner and Keegan Bradley, along with Jason Day and Brooks Koepka, who are also vying for a strong finish to improve their standings. Sedgefield Country Club, the venue for the championship since 2008, will feature a par-70 course measuring 7,131 yards. Cameron Young, the defending champion, aims to replicate his success from last year, where he set a scoring record.
