Yamashita Leads CPKC Women’s Open as Deng Climbs Leaderboard
At the CPKC Women’s Open in Edmonton, Miyu Yamashita continues her impressive performance, leading by six shots after a 5-under 65 on Saturday. Her total of 19-under 191 through 54 holes sets a new tournament record and ties the all-time LPGA Tour record for 54-hole scoring.
Yamashita's round included five birdies, with her only blemish coming on the 17th hole. She finished strong with a birdie on the 18th, solidifying her lead heading into the final round. Gina Kim and Yuri Yoshida are tied for second at 13 under, while Jennifer Kupcho and Somi Lee follow closely.
Canadian golfer Aphrodite Deng, just 16 years old, surged up the leaderboard with a bogey-free 63, moving more than 20 spots. Last year, she was the low amateur at this event and is now aiming for low Canadian honors. Fellow Canadians Brooke Henderson and Anna Huang are tied for 15th at 7 under, with Henderson expressing optimism despite a rocky start to her round.
