Yankees Acquire Reliever John Schreiber from Royals

The New York Yankees have strengthened their bullpen by claiming reliever John Schreiber off waivers from the Kansas City Royals on Monday.

Schreiber, a 32-year-old right-hander, recorded a 1-3 record with one save and a 3.65 ERA across 55 relief appearances this season before being waived. He has been effective against right-handed hitters, limiting them to a .143/.184/.231 batting line.

Throughout his career, Schreiber has a record of 16-15 with 13 saves and a 3.65 ERA in 327 games, including stints with the Detroit Tigers, Boston Red Sox, and Royals. He is currently under a one-year contract valued at $3.715 million. Additionally, the Yankees announced that right-hander Justin Topa has opted for free agency instead of accepting a minor league assignment.
