The Yankees had runners at second and third when Jazz Chisholm Jr. stole second base. After Spencer Jones walked to load the bases, McMahon's hit gave New York a one-run lead, followed by Grisham's single that further extended the advantage.

This victory marked the Yankees' 30th comeback win of the season, improving their record to 17-10 over the last 27 games and placing them three games ahead of the Boston Red Sox for the American League's top wild-card spot. The Mariners, on the other hand, faced their fifth consecutive loss and have struggled offensively, being held to three hits or fewer in multiple recent games.
