Yankees Place Kervin Castro on Injured List, Recall Bradley Hanner

The New York Yankees have placed right-handed reliever Kervin Castro on the 15-day injured list due to right elbow neuritis, effective retroactively to Monday.

In a corresponding move, the team recalled rookie right-hander Bradley Hanner from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Castro, who is 27 years old, last pitched on Sunday, achieving a perfect inning with one strikeout in a game against the Atlanta Braves.

In his first season with the Yankees, Castro has a 1.42 ERA with eight strikeouts over 6 1/3 innings. Hanner, also 27, has not yet made his major league debut but had a strong performance in the minors, recording a 2.10 ERA in 40 relief appearances.
