Yankees Promote Bradley Hanner from Triple-A

The New York Yankees have recalled reliever Bradley Hanner from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, following the placement of Kervin Castro on the 15-day injured list due to right elbow neuritis. This marks Hanner's first call-up to the major leagues.

Hanner, 27, had previously been promoted to the Yankees' 40-man roster shortly after the All-Star Break but was optioned back to Triple-A. His strong performance in the minors, including a 2.10 ERA and a 29% strikeout rate over 51 1/3 innings, contributed to the decision to promote him. Despite a higher-than-ideal walk rate of 11.4%, Hanner's pitching has been effective against minor league hitters.

Drafted in the 21st round by the Minnesota Twins in 2019, Hanner has had a varied career in the minors, including time with the Cleveland Guardians. He is currently in his first of three minor league option years, allowing the Yankees flexibility in managing their bullpen.
