Yankees Promote Top Prospect George Lombard Jr. to Major League Roster

The New York Yankees have announced the promotion of their top minor league prospect, shortstop George Lombard Jr., to the major league roster. This decision was revealed by YES Network reporter Jack Curry late Monday, following the Yankees' 13-7 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals.

In conjunction with Lombard's promotion, the Yankees optioned shortstop Anthony Volpe, outfielder Jasson Domínguez, and right-handed pitcher Angel Chivilli to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. The team confirmed these moves on the social platform X.

Lombard, who was selected 26th overall in the 2021 MLB Draft, is regarded as the Yankees' top prospect and the 20th overall in baseball. This season, he has achieved a .284 batting average with 12 home runs and 33 RBIs across 78 minor league games. The Yankees are currently positioned at 63-50, leading the American League wild-card race.
