Yankees Reactivate Chase Hampton from Inactive List

The New York Yankees have reactivated right-handed pitcher Chase Hampton from the temporarily inactive list at Double-A Somerset. This decision was made on Thursday, coinciding with Somerset's scheduled game against Akron.

Hampton, who was placed on the inactive list on August 9, has faced significant challenges in his first season back after undergoing Tommy John surgery. Originally drafted in 2022, he had a promising start in 2023 with a 3.63 ERA and 145 strikeouts over 106 2/3 innings. However, injuries have hindered his progress, limiting him to just 18 2/3 innings in 2024 and leading to his surgery in February 2025.

Since returning to the mound, Hampton's performance at Double-A has been disappointing, with an 0-5 record and a 9.93 ERA in nine starts. He has struggled with command, allowing 39 hits and 25 walks in 29 innings. Despite the difficulties, Yankees manager Aaron Boone had previously noted some positive signs regarding Hampton's velocity. The Yankees will now monitor his performance as he attempts to regain his form.
