Yankees' Ryan Weathers Exits Game Due to Forearm Discomfort
Ryan Weathers, a left-handed pitcher for the Yankees, was taken out of his game against the Blue Jays on Saturday due to discomfort in his forearm. The decision was made during the fourth inning when he had one out and two runners on base.
Prior to his exit, Weathers struggled, throwing 72 pitches to record just 10 outs. The injury appeared to occur on his last pitch to Myles Straw, after which Yerry de los Santos stepped in to help the team escape a potential scoring situation.
The diagnosis of discomfort is vague and comes ahead of an MRI. Weathers has a history of injuries, having been limited to eight starts last season due to forearm and lat issues. He has already surpassed his previous career high in innings pitched this season. Acquired from the Marlins in an offseason trade, Weathers has been performing well with a 3.56 ERA. With his injury, the Yankees may consider Elmer Rodriguez for a starting role until Weathers is evaluated further.
