Yankees Set to Retain Pitching Coach Matt Blake

The New York Yankees are anticipated to secure a new contract for pitching coach Matt Blake, whose existing agreement is set to end this year.

Blake has served as the Yankees' pitching coach since 2020, having previously worked as a scout and in various roles within the Guardians organization. This season, the Yankees faced significant challenges with injuries in their rotation, including issues affecting Gerrit Cole, Clarke Schmidt, and Carlos Rodon. Despite these setbacks, Cam Schlittler emerged as a standout pitcher, leading the American League with a 1.95 ERA.

The Yankees did not rely heavily on trades or major free-agent acquisitions for their bullpen, instead achieving success with lesser-known pitchers. As the team prepares for the 2027 season, the rotation is expected to remain unchanged, while the bullpen faces uncertainty with several key players set to become free agents.
