Yankees Sign Outfielder Jarred Kelenic to Minor League Contract

The Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders have announced the signing of outfielder Jarred Kelenic to a minor league contract. Kelenic, who recently became a free agent after clearing waivers and declining an outright assignment to the Rangers' Triple-A team, is now part of the Yankees' organization.

Kelenic was originally drafted by the Mets as the sixth overall pick in 2018 but was traded to the Mariners shortly after. Despite a promising start, he has struggled in the majors, with a career batting line of .211/.283/.371 over 1571 plate appearances across multiple teams, including the Mariners, Braves, White Sox, and Rangers. In 2026, he recorded a .219/.313/.288 line in 83 plate appearances before being designated for assignment by the White Sox.

This move to the Yankees comes after Kelenic's tumultuous season, which included multiple designations for assignment and re-signings with the Rangers. The Yankees' outfield is currently filled with regulars, and Kelenic may need an injury to secure a spot on the active roster, especially with Aaron Judge returning from injury.
