Yashvir Singh secured a bronze medal in javelin at the Commonwealth Games 2026 held at Scotstoun Stadium, New Delhi. Before his final throw, he focused on his past performance, reminding himself that he had previously thrown beyond the bronze medal mark of 82 meters.
In his sixth attempt, Singh achieved a personal best of 85.41 meters, surpassing his earlier best of 83.72 meters. This marked his first international medal, and he expressed his joy and gratitude for the support from his family and coaches. Competing alongside him, Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra won silver with a throw of 85.83 meters, despite challenging weather conditions.
Sri Lanka's Rumesh Tharanga Pathirage claimed the gold medal with a throw of 89.75 meters. Singh's achievement contributed to India's success in the javelin event at the Commonwealth Games.
