Yimi Garcia Diagnosed with Thoracic Outlet Syndrome

The Toronto Blue Jays have confirmed that reliever Yimi Garcia has been diagnosed with thoracic outlet syndrome (TOS). Manager John Schneider indicated that Garcia is unlikely to pitch for the remainder of the 2026 season, although the player has not yet made a decision regarding surgery.

Garcia's troubles began after he underwent elbow surgery following an ankle injury that sidelined him for much of the previous season. He has been experiencing neck discomfort during his rehabilitation, which led to the recent evaluation for TOS. After starting the 2026 season on the 15-day injured list, he was moved to the 60-day injured list in late April.

Garcia's rehabilitation has faced multiple interruptions, and he has struggled to regain his form in the minors, with a noticeable drop in fastball velocity. With the Blue Jays currently out of playoff contention, his potential return would have limited impact, and his value as a trade asset has diminished.
