Yuki Tsunoda Returns to F1, Qualifies 12th for Dutch Grand Prix Sprint
Yuki Tsunoda has made his competitive return to Formula 1 after an eight-month absence, qualifying 12th for the Dutch Grand Prix sprint. This event follows Isack Hadjar's wrist injury, which led to Liam Lawson temporarily taking his place at Red Bull, allowing Tsunoda to step in as a reserve driver for Racing Bulls.
During his 115th career grand prix, Tsunoda completed 35 practice laps, initially finishing 17th but improving his performance in the sprint qualifying sessions. He expressed satisfaction with his qualifying results, noting the challenges of adapting to the new 2026-spec F1 cars, which feature a significant increase in electric power.
Tsunoda acknowledged the difficulties in adjusting to the car's balance and brake performance, which differ from previous models. He aims to gain experience during the sprint race, focusing on data collection for the upcoming qualifying and race.
