Zach Johnson Takes Lead at Simmons Bank Championship

Zach Johnson is leading the Simmons Bank Championship in Little Rock, Arkansas, after shooting an 8-under-par 64 in the first round. With two tournaments remaining in the Charles Schwab Cup playoffs, Johnson is currently second in the season standings, trailing Stewart Cink.

Johnson's performance puts him one shot ahead of Henrik Stenson, while Michael Block, Richard Green, and Steven Alker are tied for third at 6-under 66. Johnson completed his round without any bogeys, finishing with birdies on the last two holes, including a notable long putt at the par-3 17th.

With only the top 36 players qualifying for the upcoming Charles Schwab Cup Championship, Johnson expressed satisfaction with his low-stress round. Stenson, aiming for a better position in the standings, is also preparing for a full-time schedule on the PGA Tour Champions in 2027.
