Zach Merrett Reunites with Familiar Faces at Hawthorn
Zach Merrett has joined Hawthorn, marking a significant transition in his career as he reunites with four familiar faces from his past in football. Among them is Daniel Giansiracusa, who previously spent six seasons at Essendon and now serves as Hawthorn's head of development.
Merrett and Giansiracusa worked closely together during Merrett's time as a midfielder at Essendon, where they focused on enhancing his versatility on the field. Merrett expressed his openness to various playing positions at Hawthorn, indicating a collaborative approach with coach Sam.
In addition to Giansiracusa, Merrett will also reconnect with Massimo D'Ambrosio, who played alongside him at Essendon, as well as Jarman Impey and Karl Amon, both of whom were part of the 2013 draft class. Merrett noted his familiarity with these players from their shared experiences in junior football and at the national level.
