Za'Darius Smith Works Out with Falcons After Browns Deal Expected
On Monday, the Atlanta Falcons conducted a workout for veteran pass rusher Za'Darius Smith, as noted in the NFL's personnel report.
Initially anticipated to sign with the Cleveland Browns, Smith was drawn to Atlanta following the news of injuries within the Falcons' roster. The team will be without James Pearce Jr. for eight games due to a suspension, and Jalon Walker is sidelined for the entire season after suffering an ACL tear.
Smith, who will turn 34 next month, previously signed with the Eagles in September but announced his retirement in October. He was released from the reserve/retired list earlier this year. In his recent seasons, Smith recorded 10.5 sacks over 25 games with the Browns before being traded to the Lions. He has also played for the Ravens, Packers, and Vikings, accumulating a total of 70.5 career sacks and earning three Pro Bowl selections, the latest in 2022.
